ABYSA’s FUNdamental Soccer Camp offers a games-centered teaching approach to soccer education, creating an exciting and entertaining environment designed to boost player learning. The FUNdamentals teaching method is designed to enrich players’ passion for soccer while teaching them the proper techniques for future soccer success. Campers will be placed in proper age groups and skill levels to ensure all players benefit from developmentally appropriate activities, teaching, and competition. The camp will employ games designed to build technical foundations for dribbling, passing, receiving, shielding, and shooting. Youth filmmakers will complete the making of a short film from concept to completion in just 3 days! Students will gain experience in filmmaking and become exposed to the various career opportunities available in the film industry. Find out if filmmaking is right for them! Students will direct, shoot, and edit a short 3-5 minute script of the group’s choosing. They will gain valuable experience in the various areas of filmmaking with professional guidance using high quality equipment. Cost of the course is $225, and includes access to all equipment. This is a super fun climbing program for first-time climbers and younger climbers who are still exploring the sport. Each day begins with a fun-filled morning of climbing exercises and games. For the first four days climbing skills will be taught and practiced and then the second half of the day will be spent at another activity downtown; either making pottery, playing in the park, or visiting AMOS. The final day of this camp is spent outdoors on real rock. Daily snacks and transportation to the rock site are provided. Daily lesson plans are developed and created for the group. This is a very fun introduction to rock climbing.

Kids 9 and older are invited to spend the day on a 2 acre family homestead “Adventuring” via the Roleplaying Game (RPG) Pathfinder (the newest evolution of legendary RPG Dungeons & Dragons). We are located 2 miles from the intersection of Patton and Haywood in West Asheville. We’ll let their imaginations run wild while they do! Experiential learning through Cartography, Math, Language Arts and Storytelling all come into play with this RPG, and kids exercise their social skills in group decision making and strategic thinking. Our facilitators aim to infuse content with learning opportunities in nature studies and ecocentric thought. Excursions to the woods around the homestead lend themselves to the storytelling value of the game and there will be time for free play/lunch/snack breaks and visits with the farm animals of FELC. We felt is was important to release as soon as possible since some camps released their schedules early, with discounts that you can only take advantage of before a set deadline. Other camps have not released their dates yet, and will announce their schedules in the coming weeks. At the Kolo Spring Break Mountain Bike Camp, campers will ride on purpose-built mountain bike trails and skill elements designed for all levels of rider to experience flow on a bicycle. Kolo Bike Park is a great way for young riders to build confidence and skill in a controlled environment. Indoor activities such as bicycle movies and games on bad weather days. The camp is for kids age 8-15 years who can comfortably ride a two-wheel bicycle. Some off-road experience is recommended but not required.

RAD Skatecamp uses a forward moving curriculum to promote fun and learning through a step by step and problem solving approach to skateboarding. We use group and individual activities bringing both a sense of community and self awareness to skating the park and participating in camp, and always promoting FUN! All levels of learning are available to campers whatever ability, age, or desire, from “I just wanna have fun” to “I want to be a pro skater.” “We don’t really have a minimum age, as it is more about how long you have been skating. We have had campers as young as 5. Our camp director Kevin Lee Shelton makes the determination if a skater is ready for camp. As far as maximum age there isn’t any.”

Our unique Spring Break creativity camps develop innovative problem solving skills, creative and critical thinking skills, confidence, collaboration and more as we encourage the creative voice of every student. Morning Camps: STEAM Quest: Superheroes … Engineer and build your very own superhero gadget using Simple Machines and battle it out with your teammates. Design costumes (with or without capes!) with Inkscape. Make a superhero theme tune in our Music Lab. Create light-up masks with circuitry and design your superhero’s very own logo as a 3D Print. Watch your child soar!

Afternoon Camps: STEAM Quest: Galactic Missions … Build and program droid-style robots for space missions and compose your own soundtrack in our Music Lab for your stellar mission! Colonize far-off planets and navigate galactic cities in Minecraft and use Scratch to defeat the enemy in your uniquely created Space Wars game. Plan the most efficient route, deliver cargo, and successfully complete your designated missions in the Kerbal Space Program!
