Trade for Treats Event kicks off 10th Annual Community Food Drive
The Waynesville Fire Department will be offering a Trade for Treats drive-through event at Fire Station 1 on North Main Street on Tuesda, October 31 (Halloween) from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. as a kick-off to the Town of Waynesville’s annual Community Food Drive. Individuals bringing non-perishable food items to the Fire Station can trade them for candy. No need to unbuckle or get out of the car, just drive right through the fire bay.
The 10th annual Community Food Drive will be on Friday, November 3 from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Ingles on Russ Avenue and at the Wal-Mart on Town Center Loop. Town staff will be on site to collect items at convenient drop off points. Town of Waynesville Fire Fighters will also be collecting monetary donations on the special collection day as part of their annual “boot drive”.
All donations and food items collected will be provided to Haywood Christian Ministry to assist in keeping their pantries full for those in need. Acceptable donation items include: flour, sugar, corn meal, soups, rice, beans, coffee, tea, cereal, canned vegetables and fruits, peanut butter, cooking oil and canned meats.
