Asheville Brewing Company is 20 years old on March 15th! So, part of our Anniversary celebration is showing one of our fans’ favorite, most beloved movies of all time… THE PRINCESS BRIDE!
Showing “The Princess Bride” has become an annual tradition for us at our dine-in movie theater on Merrimon Avenue which is also the original location of the brewery (now Downtown). This incredibly charming and delightful film has fans across every generation.
Many families come every year to share in the experience of seeing Wesley and Buttercup fight against all odds to find true love with each other. To see this classic on the big screen in a dark theater with 150 other fans is a rare treat.
WARNING!!! Both screenings will definitely sell out far in advance of the show dates. People make the mistake every year of waiting too late to buy their tickets. Don’t be that person!
MOVIE SYNOPSIS:
Adapted by William Goldman from his 1973 novel of the same name, it tells the story of a farmhand named Westley (Cary Elwes), accompanied by befriended companions along the way, who must rescue his true love Princess Buttercup (Robin Wright) from the odious Prince Humperdinck (Chris Sarandon). The film effectively preserves the novel’s narrative style by presenting the story as a book being read by a grandfather (Peter Falk) to his sick grandson (Fred Savage). The film is directed and co-produced by Rob Reiner, and also stars Mandy Patinkin, Wallace Shawn, André the Giant, Carol Kane, Billy Crystal and Christopher Guest.
CONTENT GUIDELINE — Rated PG for mild violence such as death by sword fighting and poison, and also for mild language with “son of a bitch” and “Jesus!” each spoken once.
