“Red Herring Puppets is performing “The Big Dipper: Calendar, Compass, and Clock”. Puppeteers are Lisa Sturz and John Jones.
This spectacular production uses cultural legend and scientific fact to enhance appreciation of The Big Dipper. Audiences learn how the Big Dipper can be used as a calendar, a compass, and a clock through stories from four cultures: the Chinese legend of K’uei, the Underground Railroad, the Greek legend of Callisto, and the Micmac Indian legend of the Sky Bear. This curriculum based performance includes over two dozen beautifully crafted marionettes and twice as many shadow images.
Student matinee tickets are $6. Reservations are first come, first serve, and seating is limited. Reservations can be made by mail or phone. One free chaperone ticket is given per 25 paid tickets.
