April is Pollinator Month at the Weaverville Library!  Join us for a variety of kids, teen and adult programs celebrating all things Pollinator in partnership with the Town of Weaverville’s Community Pollinator Initiative.

Friday, April 22nd at 4pm – Kids, Teens, Adults and Families:  Join us for the incredible nature film “Wings of Life”:  Beautiful colors and landscapes backdrop the world of flowers and how they are pollinated across the world, from deserts to lush grassy areas.  Narrated by Meryl Streep

Saturday, April 23rd at 2pm – Dr. Art Hulse will talk about “Landscaping for Pollinators.” Art is a retired university biologist and has extensive experience with native plants landscaping and control of invasive exotic plants. He will emphasize why native plants are best for pollinating insects and provide specific guidance on how to design a pollinator-friendly landscape.

Wednesday, April 27th at 4pm – After School Program “Bugs and Dust” with UNC-A Biology professor Becca Hale – Let’s meet a group of real bugs and learn what they pollinate and why.  For kids of all ages, the program will also include planting of wildflowers to take home and a tour of the pollinator garden at the Main Street Nature Park.
