Ever wonder what wild plants you could eat out on the trail? Join two-time Mountains-to-Sea Trail thru-hiker, Certified Herbalist, and author Heather Houskeeper for a plant walk along the Mountains-to-Sea Trail. She will identify and describe these plants’ edible and medicinal properties giving you the knowledge to find them on your own treks or favorite wild places. This is a nature walk with lots of stopping to examine the plants along the way, so be sure to bring your notebooks and cameras as well as your hiking shoes!
This hike is rated easy to moderate and should take about two hours.
Heather is the author of “A Guide to the Edible and Medicinal Plants of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail.” She has thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail, Mountains-to-Sea Trail, and most recently was the first person to hike The Finger Lakes Trail System in one continuous trek. When not hiking, she enjoys teaching others about the plants through guided plant walks and workshops throughout the North and Southeast. Learn more about Heather at www.TheBotanicalHiker.blog
