Evenings at PARI are held the second Friday of each month. The public is invited to visit PARI for an introduction to PARI and its mission. The program includes a tour, lecture on a current astronomy topic and outdoor observing session.
Reservations are required, with bookings taking place until 3pm the day of the event.
February 12th: The Gregorian Calendar and the Leap Year. “Dr. Bob Hayward describes the origin of the Gregorian calendar that we currently use, and the origin of the Leap Year.”
March 11th: Celestial Navigation. “Terry Jednaszewski will explain the practice of determining your position on the earth by looking at the sun and stars.”
April 8th: The James Webb Space Telescope. “Mike Mentzel will provide the details and development history of the successor to the Hubble Space Telescope, as part of the NC Science Festival.”
