4:00-6:00 Open House: meander in, sip coffee or beer samples, taste chocolate and pastries, continue the conversation with our collaborators, owners, and chocolate makers.

Saturdays from 8:00 am until 10:00 am and Sundays from 2:00 pm till 4:00 pm.
This program is a toddler free-play time for children age 5 and under to explore the gym, use the equipment and enjoy their friends while playing. The cost is $5/hour after the annual registration fee.
Gazers of the Galaxy with PARI; at the Historic Cradle of Forestry
“Mark your calendar dates for April through July. PARI staff will be assisting the Pisgah Field School, welcoming you and your family to a star gazing evening at the Cradle of Forestry. The first event is April 30, followed by May 21, June 11 and July 29. The programs will run from 7:30 PM-10 PM. Observations with PARI’s optical telescopes will examine the moon, planets and night sky objects, after the sky is dark. Additional information can be found at the Cradle of Forestry or the Pisgah Field School.”
Evenings at PARI are held the second Friday of each month. The public is invited to visit PARI for an introduction to PARI and its mission. The program includes a tour, lecture on a current astronomy topic and outdoor observing session.
Reservations are required, with bookings taking place until 3pm the day of the event.
February 12th: The Gregorian Calendar and the Leap Year. “Dr. Bob Hayward describes the origin of the Gregorian calendar that we currently use, and the origin of the Leap Year.”
March 11th: Celestial Navigation. “Terry Jednaszewski will explain the practice of determining your position on the earth by looking at the sun and stars.”
April 8th: The James Webb Space Telescope. “Mike Mentzel will provide the details and development history of the successor to the Hubble Space Telescope, as part of the NC Science Festival.”
