The North Carolina Apple Festival
The North Carolina Apple Festival is held annually over Labor Day Weekend in Hendersonville, North Carolina. It has been Western North Carolina’s Premier Family Festival for over 60 years. From August 30-September 2, 2019 you can enjoy 4 days of fun including one of the most best known Street Fairs in the Carolinas with freshly picked apples, arts & crafts, festival food, and free entertainment at the Historic Courthouse on Hendersonville’s beautiful Main Street.
Friday, Aug 30th: Friday marks the start of the North Carolina Apple Festival, and the opening ceremonies begin at 10 am at the Historic Courthouse. Today is a great day to visit the festival, or grab some festival food during your lunch break. The street fair will run from 10 am- 8 pm while the entertainment, children’s area, and food court will run until 10 pm. Please check the entire entertainment schedule and event schedule for all the happenings. Full Schedule HERE: http://www.ncapplefestival.org/entertainment-hendersonville/friday/
Saturday, Aug 31st: Saturday is a happening and busy day at the North Carolina Apple Festival with the street fair, the live entertainment begins at 9:00am, the multiple special events occurring throughout Henderson County and of course the fried apple pies! Monday, Sept 2nd: The festival will be coming to a close today, but the King Apple Parade is the best way to end the North Carolina Apple Festival. Downtown After 5 started in 1988 as a small event to bring people to Downtown Asheville and has since grown to the event as it is today on North Lexington Avenue. It is a production of the Asheville Downtown Association, a nonprofit organization committed to the preservation and improvement of the central business district.
Beer and wine is available for purchase, with a variety of local and regional options. To purchase alcohol, attendees will need to show a valid picture ID and buy a $2 wristband. Proceeds from wristband sales will support a nonprofit organization. There are also several food options available including tacos, ice cream, kettle corn, hot dogs, lobster rolls and more.
Downtown After 5 is committed to reducing its impact on the environment and features a solar array, complimentary bike corral, compostable food and beverage containers, and staffed recycling and compost bins. Since implementing its greening initiative, the event has reduced the number of bags headed to the landfill to just a handful.
