The Gate Trail is an easy 0.96 mile / 30 minutes hike (30 minutes in, and 30 minutes out). The trailhead is located in the gravel parking area just northeast of the Montreat Gate (first gravel lot on the right). The trail follows Flat Creek, has many informative signs and nice benches on which to rest. The trail ends at the fabulous Robert Lake Park Playground, which has a meandering creek running through it. We’ll play for a while then hike back to the cars. Bring a picnic lunch and a change of clothes just in case your kid can’t resist the creek! No strollers. Carriers recommended for babies and tired toddlers
