In this workshop with author/illustrator Jarrett Rutland, students will study paneled sequential story-telling. Using six targeted topics: Character Design, Facial Expressions, Panel to Panel Variety, Story Arcs, Art of Body Language, and Character Development, kids will lay the groundwork to transform themselves from dreamers to seasoned author/illustrators!
AGE RANGE: 7-12 years
Maximum of 25 students
COST: $40 per kid. Each child receives a free copy of instructor’s comic ROBOT SAMURAI PENGUINS

May 30: Kids’ Mud Run (ages 2 – 11) — 6pm – 8pm
The Kids’ Mud Run features a one (1) mile muddy obstacle course designed for youth ages two and up. We also have a variety of MUDDY games for kids of all ages to play in addition to the course.
A Stuff sale galore! To benefit a wonderful women’s community in Asheville. Many different items, from large to small so come one and all! We’ll have some specialty items as well such as crystals and cashmire sweaters. It’s a great day to get out and get some new items.
Another Building in the River Arts District is being torn down, forcing over a dozen artists and musicians out of their workspaces. Come explore a historic landmark while it stands, see art on display, hear live music, purchase truly unique, handmade things or delicious treats. All proceeds and donations will go to relocating artists. Show your support in keeping the River Arts District an active, diverse and inspiring art destination! This is a totally FREE event lasting the entire weekend. Come hang out and SPREAD THE WORD.

The event benefits the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation which is the world’s largest nonprofit funder of childhood brain tumor research. They serve the more than 28,000 children in the United States who are living with the diagnosis of a brain tumor.
New Life Youth are raising funds to go on a Mission Trip to Alaska this summer. We are hosting a yard sale with over 20 families coming together to sell items as such: home goods, childrens clothing and toys, furniture, etc.
We will provide complimentary donuts and coffee. Hope you can come support a great cause!

This is a free workshop open to anyone who is interested in learning how to grow their own vegetables, flowers, herbs, and fruit. We will cover the basics of garden planning, seeding and transplanting, soil health, and different approaches to gardening. Although we will definitely not have enough time to cover everything, you will be given handouts and resources so you can keep learning on your own!
