For over 20 years, June has been a highlight for the ceramic community of the Southern Highland Craft Guild. Hosting a six-hour event filled with slip, flames and sweat, members and guests demonstrate their skill set behind the wheel or over a kiln, alongside the precision and patience of surface design and hand building. In conjunction with the free opportunities of experiential learning from master artisans, Southern Highland Clay Fest has a new expanded element of booths filled with the charm and beauty of potters’ goods.
Located at the Guild’s headquarters, the Folk Art Center, visitors are invited to participate from 10am – 4pm in various activities. For the serious shoppers and collectors, the hill behind the Center’s auditorium will hold booths with Guild members and invited guests from outside of the region. Ceramic wares of both decoration and function will be available for purchase.
The Southern Highland Craft Guild offers this free event to the public to further educate about the region’s fine makers.
