Firefly Twilight Tour
$6.00 ages 16+, $3.00 ages 5-15 and for America the Beautiful or Golden Age passport holders, FREE ages 4 and under
Allow twilight in the summer forest to surround you in sights and sounds as darkness falls upon the Cradle of Forestry. Enjoy the charming evening forest of the NC mountains as we guide you through the world of fireflies.
Fireflies:
The natural mystery of a fireflyâs glow has filled cultures with legends and myths. Today science looks into the chemistry of that glow for answers to diseases and energy. The life cycle and variations of these beetles is as interesting. Beyond the peaceful, soft glows are betrayal and deceit. These are all topics covered during this event with a chance for you to ask questions.
Event Details:
This wheelchair accessible program begins in the Cradle of Forestryâs outdoor theater by the Forest Festival Trail. As twilight sets in we begin with a talk interpreting firefliesâ life cycle and unique features. A  craft for children is available for early participants.
After the talk you can look for fireflies and explore the forest and fields along the Forest Festival Trail. This easy trail is paved and approximately 1 mile long. Please bring along a flashlight and your sense of wonder.
