The Young Entrepreneurial Scholars (YES!) Camp is a North Carolina Rural Entrepreneurship through Action Learning (NC REAL) Youth Entrepreneurship camp that will run July 18 – 22, 2016, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at A-B Tech Madison. This program is for rising sixth to ninth-grade students.
The goal of the camp is to introduce students to the ideas of entrepreneurship, creative thinking, and fun, interactive activities to engage students. Campers will work in teams to develop a business plan, learn how to apply for a business loan and about resources in their community. They will also gain an understanding of entrepreneurship as a viable career option and meet and learn from successful entrepreneurs.
Saturday July 16, 2016 2:00 PM Join us in welcoming New York Times bestselling author Robert Beatty. He will be signing and personalizing his newest book, Serafina and the Twisted Staff. Food and drinks will be provided. Characters from the book series will also join us for the celebration.
The Corpening Y Hikers will be headed to Roan Mountain on June 22! If you would like to join us, meet at the Carvers Gap parking lot at 9:30am. Roan Mountain is located on the NC/TN state line. Famous for the Catawba rhododendron gardens, Roan is one of the most beautiful sections of the Appalachian Trail. It is a 5 mile round-trip, with an elevation gain of 1,150 feet. The trail is easy to moderate and in good condition with minimal rocks.
Please bring water, a light lunch and small snack.
We will send out an email letting you know if the hike is canceled due to inclement weather by 5pm on 6/21.
