“HEADS UP, GARDEN LOVERS! Want to see lots of fabulous lotus flowers and bonsai trees? Jack Jarvis, landscape artist extraordinaire, is opening up his 4-acre wondrous ‘showcase’ garden to the public. He has 5 ponds, two of which are full of two varieties of lotus, a large bonsai garden of note, conifer gardens, lots of beautiful “weeping” trees and spectacular floral displays.  

Jack truly is a visionary landscape artist. His flair with the various colors and shades of flora makes his work stand out, ‘pop’ and be instantly recognizable when one sees it. His color palette and knowledge of plants adds year-round ‘visual interest’.

Directions: From Asheville, Highway 26 West to Exit 9 (after Mars Hill). Turn right on Highway 19 (toward the direction of Burnsville) and go about 1.3 miles to 1.4 miles from the right hand turn. On the left immediately before his road on the right, you will see some storage units with rust red colored doors. Immediately thereafter, there will be a right hand turn marked Old Mill Bridge Road which goes down a hill where you will make a right. You will see a nursery/hot house on the right, visible from the road, as well as a huge red barn beyond it as you look at it. Drive a short distance where you will see a narrow bridge with a dirt road veering to the right. Make a right at that gravel road when you cross the bridge and Jack’s home and land is the first house on the right.”
