BLOWING ROCK: July 4th Fireworks Extravaganza

Join us as we celebrate July 4th and Tweetsie Railroad’s Anniversary with the largest fireworks show in the High Country. The Wild West theme park will be open for extended hours from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 pm.

Smallmouth Bass Kayak Fishing with Jameson Redding

Jameson Redding from the popular kayak fishing show Yakangler‘s Inside and Out will share tips and techniques for smallmouth bass fishing. This class is great fro the novice or experienced angler. One lucky attendee will win a $25 gift card.

This event is free and open to the public. Kids and well-behaved pets with owner on leash are welcome.

Freedom Craft Show and Sale

July 2&3: 9am – 4pm in the Apple Orchard Event Center both days!

Juried craft show and sale. Great homemade food in the Apple Orchard Cafe!

Super Hero Day

Join us from 3-4pm (at our Asheville location) to hone your super skills! Bend rods of steel, jump over tall buildings in a single bound, and complete the DBT super power training. Come in costume or make your own mask and cuffs here. Come and help us fight all things evil!

2016 Children’s Summer Film Festival

Film Festival begins June 14th and will continue each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday morning through August 18th with shows at 10:00am.

This Festival is FREE for all children (under 16 years of age)

A $1.00 admission fee will apply for those over 16 years of age

Seating availability is on a first come, first served basis

Old Buncombe County Genealogical local Society/First Families Of Buncombe ANNUAL PICNIC

The OBCGS/FFOB picnic has been held for the past 11 years to celebrate the opportunity for descendants of early pioneers who first settled Buncombe County to get together. Anyone can come, just bring a side dish or dessert to share. OBCGS will provide the meat, drinks, plates and utensils.

This year we are meeting at the Zebulon B. Vance Birthplace in Weaverville, NC under their picnic shelter. There will be a hosted demonstration at the main house sometime during the picnic. We will start at 11:00 am and must be cleaned up and out by 3:00 pm on Saturday, June 25.

The meeting is free and open to the public and will be held rain or shine. We’ll see you there!

Songcatchers Music Series

The 17th annual Songcatchers Music Series showcases music with its roots in the Southern Appalachians and the musicians who nurture the tradition of passing this heritage on to others. This event is an official part of the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area’s Blue Ridge Music Trail.
