Writing Dialogue with Robin Constantine:
A Workshop for Teen Writers (ages 13-18 only)
$15 or book purchase (details on Spellbound website)
pre-registration required – limited to 10 students
Ever come to a part in your story where you struggle with what your characters will say? Or do your characters have a whole lot to say, but aren’t really saying anything? Do you grapple with writing realistic dialogue? If you’ve answered “yes” to any of those questions – this is the workshop for you!
In this workshop we will:
· Answer the question “What is good dialogue?”
· Get tips on how to create engaging dialogue.
· Learn dialogue pitfalls to avoid.
· Practice with an exercise to spark your creativity.
· Author Q& A
· Leave w/ inspiration, handouts & book-related swag!
Students can also enter a drawing to win a free critique from Robin of 20 pages from your completed manuscript or a work in progress. This is a rare opportunity, for young writers especially, to be offered constructive feedback from a successful published author with a busy schedule. Don’t miss out!
About the Instructor:
Robin Constantine is the author of three popular young adult novels published by Harper Collins: THE PROMISE OF AMAZING, THE SECRETS OF ATTRACTION, and THE SEASON OF YOU & ME. She grew up in the same town as George R.R. Martin but unlike him prefers to write contemporary novels and tends not to kill off characters. She loves a great rom-com which, when you think of it, could be considered contemporary realistic fantasy–or would that be an oxymoron?
