Tuesdays-Saturdays, Year-Round, weather permitting … Enjoy a 90-minute tractor-led haywagon tour of Dr. King’s Farms, nestled amidst the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
Dr. King’s Farm Tours
From Soil to Sustenance
Dr. King’s Farms encompass a breathtaking total of 500 acres in Leicester, N.C., just 15 minutes from downtown Asheville. The farm is home for American Buffalo (Bison), the rare White Bison, rare Black Bison, milking Camels, African Watusi, North American Elk, Himalayan Yak, and Deer. In our tours, visitors experience, up close and personal, animals raised on top-quality native grasses and pure mountain water as they graze freely in open pastures surrounded by the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Bring your coolers to take back some Bison, Elk, Organic Beef, Yak or natural bacon for some of your best and most memorable eating experiences.
Reservations Required for Tours
Group tours and discounts are available. Our tour season is year round, weather permitting. We can work with you on scheduling.
We are a working farm and need to know at least 24 hours in advance if you plan on touring with us so we can best accommodate your group. Tours start promptly at 10 AM Tuesday through Saturday and last an average of one and a half hours.

4th Annual Festival of Fun
DEADLINE TO REGISTER YOUR KID BUSINESS IS AUGUST 15th!
It’s back folks… the Dancing Bear Kidzone!
The Kidzone is a section of Fun Fest reserved for kid businesses. We welcome all kinds of young entrepreneurs- from lemonade stands to on-demand interpretive dances. Every kid has a special talent, and we want to help them showcase it! Running their own business is a great way to boost kids’ confidence and teach awesome life skills like budgeting, time management, social skills, responsibility, and much more!
All you need is an idea!
Ask your kid what they’re really, really good at. What do they love to do? The sky’s the limit- if your kid wants to sell rides in her imaginary spaceship, go for it! Be silly! Have fun with it! Here are some ideas to get you started:
- Crafts- friendship bracelets, jewelry, potholders, pinch pots, soap, tissue paper flowers, personalized dinosaur drawings
- Food- lemonade stands, bake sales, homemade dog treats, etc.
- Services- fortune telling, poetry on demand, iPhone lessons, dog walking, musical farting, ninja lessons
- Performances- is your child a musician? A stand-up comedian? We’d be happy to host a performance- just let us know!
We recommend that you keep your goods and services under $5 for Fun Fest, but we’re always open to exceptions.
What’s the next step?
Interested in participating? Fill out their form no later than August 15th.
