New Year’s Resolution 5k Run/Walk & 10 Mile Run
Start 2020 off with a bang! The 5th Annual Resolution Run presented by Bairds welcome families and participants of all ages to come run, walk or crawl their way to completing their first resolution! The 5k is a perfect distance for all abilities to run/walk and to start off your new year! The 10 mile event was designed with endurance road runners in mind. Both events are timed with chip timing.
Runners and walkers participating in the 5k event will explore nearby downtown neighborhoods and experience the best of the Asheville City while completing their first 3.1 miles of the year. Runners participating in the ten mile event will wind their way through the beautiful rolling neighborhoods in N. Asheville around the flat (and fast) Beaver Lake area and through downtown Asheville.
We are excited to partner again with the YMCA of Western North Carolina, iDream Athletes Foundation and the Western Carolina Rescue Ministries for the Resolution Run! The WCRM will host a shoe drive at packet pickup and on race day. So BRING SHOES, BRING SHOES, BRING SHOES! Especially gently used or new tennis shoes! Tennis shoes seem to be the best, as the homeless population likes them, because they hold up for such a long period of time. The shoes that the WCRM receive during the Resolution Run event will go towards their annual “Foot Care Clinic”.
Pre-event Packet pick-up and Registration will be held on New Year’s Eve at Baird on December 31, 2019 from 2-4pm. Baird is located at 79 Woodfin Place, Asheville, NC.
The races start and finish at 10am in the heart of downtown Asheville at Pack Square.
Bring warm layers of clothes, tie up you running shoes and get ready to ring in the new year.
We highly encourage participants of all abilities and speeds but we do have awards categories for the Resolution Run 10 mile and 5k.

Hiking and Apple Picking in Hendersonville
Fall is a beautiful time to explore WNC. We will head to Hendersonville in our group van to start the day with a leisurely hike and exploration of the Carl Sandburg Park. We can hike as a group on one of the many trails or you can explore on your own along the lake and visit the farm. The hike from the parking area to the barn is 1/3 mile along a rolling path. Additional distances may be added to the hike depending on the trail selected. We will take time for a picnic lunch and then head to a local orchard to pick apples. Participants should bring lunch, water and a snack and wear activity appropriate clothing and footwear.
Trip will leave from the Recreation Park Office at 9:30am (72 Gashes Creek Rd). Return by 4:30pm.
Pre-registration required.
Any apples or other items purchased are at your own expense.
