Join a Park Ranger from Chimney Rock State Park to begin your adventure into the basics of black bears. What do bears eat? Where do they live? Do they hibernate during NC winters? And will they attack? Let’s answer these and other common questions about the largest land mammals in our woods. The ranger will read a true story book about an adventurous bear from the Great Smoky Mountains.

Parents of Trans / Non Gender Binary Kids Meet and Greet
A chance for parents of transgender kids to gather in a casual atmosphere meet other parents and kids and have the chance to share experiences and resources. This will be a kid friendly event and a great opportunity to build your support network.
We will be planning regularly occuring events for parents and kids, this will be a great time to plug in and get involved!

Fall Leaf Hunt with Asheville Greenworks (5-12yrs)
Celebrate fall with Asheville GreenWorks’ environmental educator on a guided hike and leaf hunt! We will meet at the North Asheville Library and then collect different leaves while learning about the importance of trees along the way to the bird sanctuary. Kids will use the leaves they collect to create a leaf collage. Open to 5-12 years old. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
