A beautiful historic district in Asheville transforms during the holidays, transporting you back in time to the days of Charles Dickens and A Christmas Carol.
On December 6th and 7th, The Historic Biltmore Village Association will be holding the 31st Annual Dickens Christmas Celebration on the Village Green, featuring live music and entertainment, Mugs of Merriment Hot Chocolate Competition, and tree and street lighting at sundown.
Good-old-fashioned and FREE fun for the whole family inspired by the Old World Christmas Shoppe. Participating restaurants include Corner Kitchen, Rezaz, Village Wayside, Red Stag Grill, and Dining Innovations/Double Tree Hotel. Children’s activities include letters to Santa, cookie decorating, and ornament making.
Over 20 live acts of entertainment will be performing from 5-8pm. Mugs of Merriment Winners will be announced at 6:30pm by guest judges Jason Sanford, Stu Helm, and Ingrid Allstaedt. Our live 22-foot tree and street installations will be lit shortly after prize raffles at 7pm.

On Thursday, November 30th the town of Fletcher will kick off the holiday season with its Annual Tree Lighting at Fletcher Community Park. This event will include the lighting of the Town Christmas Tree , holiday music, visits with Santa and plenty of delicious hot chocolate and cookies to help keep warm. This is a perfect opportunity for children to give Santa their Christmas letters and to get a photo with the jolly old elf.

The self-guided audio tour covers the history of E.W. Grove, the construction and early years of the resort, our Arts & Crafts style furniture collection and some of our most notable guests. The tour lasts approximately 45 minutes and consists of walking and long periods of standing.
We recommend bringing your own earphones for the tour. Phone adapters and headphones are available for purchase at the Marketplace if needed.
The Reuter Family YMCA in Biltmore Park will host two holiday markets this month, featuring about 20 vendors. Items for sale include local produce, crafts, cheese, baked goods, breads, meats, and specialty products. This is the YMCA Holiday Market’s second year. It serves as a preview for the YMCA Winter Markets, which start in January.
A Bug’s Life is a modernized retelling of the Aesop fable The Ant and the Grasshopper. Unpopular inventor-ant Flik accidentally destroys the colony’s yearly food offering to the gangster-grasshoppers. He leaves the anthill to look for bigger bugs to help fight the grasshoppers, and brings back a group of circus insects that he mistakenly believes are experienced fighters. Ultimately Flik convinces the colony to stand up to the grasshoppers and drive them away.
