Ben’s 2016 Charity Drive
The WHOLE month of December Ben’s is partnering with SEIZ ure LIFE to raise awareness about Epilepsy. Along with our brewery, several local breweries have donated kegs to raise money for this cause and ALL proceeds will be donated to Brainy Camps, a camp for children with Chronic health conditions. The entire staff of these camps is medically trained thus allowing these kids to participate in sports and activities otherwise prohibited in most settings. We will also be selling Ben’s Tune Up ornaments for $5 each – all proceeds also being donated to Brainy Camps. Join us on the 9th for our big event but stop by ANYTIME this month and have a pint or buy an ornament for a good cause. Happy Holidays!

COME HELL OR HIGH WATER: Remembering the Great Flood of 1916
One hundred years ago, Western North Carolina was hit by the worst flood in its history, the Great Flood of 1916. As a result of two hurricanes within days of each other, hundreds of mudslides caused catastrophic damage and loss of life, the Swannanoa River was a mile wide and the French Broad River was 17 feet above flood stage.
The Center for Cultural Preservation and filmmaker David Weintraub will show COME HELL OR HIGH WATER, Remembering the Great Flood of 1916. Award-winning documentary filmmaker Weintraub will answer questions afterwards.
The Great Flood is more than a history lesson. It’s also a cautionary tale of where we build our homes, how we live our lives and what we do to protect ourselves and the environment the next time nature raises its ugly head again. Hurricane Matthew in October of this year is a timely reminder of how massive flooding can arrive unexpectedly.
This program is free and the public is invited. Refreshments will be served afterwards courtesy of Friends of the Library volunteers.
