FREE MARIMBA WORKSHOP FOR ALL AGES!
Come and play the Marimba. The workshop will be led by the lovely and talented Sue Ford. Come and experience what the Marimba is all about!
Sue Ford, former director of Evergreen’s EMBE Marimba Band, is launching a new venture called Village Marimba. Sue continues to spread the joy of playing marimba music in a community ensemble. Classes will be available to students from any school (in Grades 5 – 12) in Western North Carolina. Village Marimba is a program of Asheville Rhythm, an organization that seeks to create a culture that promotes wellness through rhythm and bridges musical traditions through innovative collaborations.

Buncombe County Bookmobile
The Bookmobile is a free program featuring fun activities geared toward school aged kids with story time, singing, arts & crafts and more! Children can choose books to check out from our library and weekly attendance earns children a prize from our treasure chest.
How can families participate?

The Harlem Wizards vs. The Asheville All-Stars Game
The Harlem Wizards have a unique mission: create awe-inspiring events throughout the country. At the Wizards game, fans will witness amazing basketball talent combined with hilarious comedy. Its two hours of family time where parents, grandparents, and kids can all laugh together. When you’ re in the stands, you’ re more than a spectator; you’ re part of the show with loads of audience participation. Throughout the game, fans will experience a magical display of tricks, coordinated ball handling, fancy passing and aerodynamic athleticism combined with high-energy comedy and audience interaction. The experience can only be summed up in two words: Awe-Inspiring!
The game is a fundraiser for Oakley Elementary, but we will have players on our team from all over Asheville!! Not only do we have teachers and staff from Oakley, Haw Creek and Fairview on our team, we also have members of The Lady Jags Semi-Pro Women’s basketball team, as well as some fantastic former college players!!
Come out to cheer on The Asheville All-Stars as they take on The World Famous Harlem Wizards!! Tickets go on sale this Monday, December 19th at 7 am. Make sure to get your tickets early since we anticipate a sell-out this year.
