The Asheville Parks & Rec Summer Guide is out and it’s packed with lots of programs and activities to participate in, including Movies in the Park, Skate Nights, Midnight Basketball, and more!! Much of it is FREE or low cost!
Established in 1954, Asheville Parks & Recreation manages a unique collection of more than 55 public parks, playgrounds, and open spaces throughout the city in a system that also includes full-complex recreation centers, swimming pools, Riverside Cemetery, sports fields and courts, and community centers that offer a variety of wellness-, education-, and culture-related programs for Ashevillians of all ages. With 8 miles of paved greenways and numerous natural surface trails, its complete portfolio acts as the foundation of a vibrant hub for the people of Asheville to connect with their neighbors and explore the natural beauty of a livable and walkable city. Driven by the promise that Asheville is a better and safer place when everyone from infants to retirees has the opportunity to be supported, healthy, and successful, Asheville Parks & Recreation was the first nationally-accredited municipal recreation department in the United States.

Drive In Movie Night Under the Stars: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Come enjoy a night under the stars while watching a great classic “Chitty Chitty BangBang” in an old timers style drive in movie setting. The Prescott Auto Reserve is proudto host “Night under the Stars” our first drive in movie experience. Tickets are sold perperson and kids 12 and under are free. Dinner will be served at check-in and popcornserved at intermission. Movie can be transmitted through vehicle radio station or can beheard aloud if preferred. We host family friendly events and welcome you to our facility! We ask that No Tobacco products or Alcohol be brought on premises. We hope you enjoy the Movie ! Movie Rated G

Memorial Day Observance
Weaverville’s annual observation of Memorial Day will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 27th at the Community Center overlooking Lake Louise.
Lt. General Kathleen Gainey USA (3-Star Retired) is our guest speaker. Lt. General Gainey has served in Army Command for 35 years, including 15 different assignments.
Please join us as we honor our fallen men and women, who have served and protected. Parking is available at the Community Center, the above Outdoor Recreation Center lot, as well as adjacent parking below the Community Center.
