FEAST on the FARM – A BBQ benefit for FEAST Asheville at Warren Wilson College
Warren Wilson College – On Wednesday March 29th from 4-8 PM a uniquely tasty event will be held by the Farm Crew of Warren Wilson to benefit local non-profit FEAST.
The Crew will be providing farm raised pork BBQ smoked right on the farm with fresh vegetable side dishes, vegetarian options, and local beer from Pisgah Brewing. Live music from The Old Time Band will set the mood and encourage swinging and swaying.
The event is open to community members, students, and faculty. Ticket prices are $10 for students, $20 non-students.
All of the proceeds will benefit FEAST garden and cooking education. FEAST envisions a community where all kids eat fruits and vegetables every day regardless of income. This will be an opportunity to get together and share a night with friends and family, while supporting a great cause.
This is an outdoor event. Rain date is March 30th.

Hey Mamas and Babies, lets dance! Join in on the fun with a dance and movement class specifically for the littlest dancers! Babies ages 8wks-18 months and their caregiver will enjoy this 45 minute class full of music, movement, laughter and love! We will interact and engage with our babes through songs and creative movement, and Mamas will have the opportunity to groove with babywearing dance choreography! No previous dance experience is required, just a positive spirit! Get ready to dance, play and love in the “Baby Steps” class!

Eight to ten thousand tulips are about to burst into bloom in downtown Hendersonville according to master gardener, Scott Johnson. “The bulbs we planted in the fall should be in full bloom the second and third week of April,” said Johnson recently.
The “Tulip Extravaganza” is scheduled for April 1-30, which includes the week of Easter (April 5) and Passover(April 11) this year. Many of the shops will be holding their annual ‘spring cleaning’ sidewalk sale on April 10 & 11 during the height of the spring color. The downtown businesses hope that residents will bring their out-of-town guests for a week of shopping and dining. “Downtown Hendersonville is such a treasure to Western North Carolina. We anticipate as many visitors as tulips!” said Barbara Hughes, owner of Narnia Studios. Hughes also said the businesses will each have unique ways to welcome the crowds and spring. “Many businesses will have tulip-themed displays in their windows as well as offering their spring specials,” Hughes added.

Scientists need YOUR help in studying plants everywhere, including your own backyard! Join us for an introduction to botany, the study of plants. You’ll use microscopes and magnifying glasses to observe plants up close and learn how to join our crew of ecoEXPLORERS- kids who submit observations of plants and animals for scientists to study and earn prizes while they do it.
Participants, upon registering as a participant at www.ecoexplore.net, receive an ecoEXPLORE patch. Find out how you can earn your Botany Field Badge and a free pass to Mountain Science Expo on April 8, 2017. For ages 5 to 13 but all ages are welcome to attend.
Join world renowned storyteller Dr. Joseph Sobol for his afternoon of storytelling of “Jack and the Least Gal.” It is a two-act fantasia on Appalachian wonder tale themes, an Appalachian “Into the Woods,” in which the many incarnations of the folk tale hero Jack and his feminine counterpart, the Youngest Daughter or Least Gal, meet on the road of trials and walk in and out of one another’s adventures. A contemporary take on the wonder tale tradition, replete with original and traditional songs and tunes, moving from comedy to romance to mystic rebirth.
