The Social Justice League (5-10yrs)
We’re assembling a team of young superheroes to tackle discrimination and injustice wherever they find it. Introducing: The Social Justice League!
The Social Justice League is seven month training program for kids hosted by Dancing Bear Toys and Spellbound Children’s Bookshop. Each month will focus on a different social justice theme. We’ll host monthly workshops with local nonprofits and assign kids Superhero Homework to complete by the end of the month. When they turn in their Superhero Homework, they’ll get a prize from a different local business. The program is designed to empower kids to recognize and stand up to injustice in their own communities.
Join us Saturday, April 8 for our first event of the season! We’re pairing with the YWCA of Asheville to host an anti-racism training program. This program is geared towards kids ages 5-10. If you attend the event, and turn in your “Superhero Homework,” you’ll get a free scoop of ice cream from Ultimate Ice Cream Company Asheville!

Artists In Resistance
Dogwood Alliance and Asheville Grit will be co-sponsoring an Artists in Resistance event at THE BLOCK off biltmore. Join us as we collaborate with local artists to create a community-generated, forest-focused community art project that we will take with us to the People’s Climate March in D.C. on April 29th. This event is kid friendly and open to the public!
Forests are our number one defense against climate change, and yet our Southern forests are being destroyed at four times the rate of the Amazon rainforest. Let’s protect our home and stand tall for forests and for our communities.
$10 suggested donation. All proceeds of the event will go towards sponsoring the travel fees of those who would like to attend the People’s Climate March, but cannot afford the trip on their own.
The event will have music by local Dj’s and other special guests. and food will be donated by Eden-Out Meals. The climate is changing, and we need to change too. Come and join the movement.
