Visit the First Inland Aquarium in NC

Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays 1:00pm-4:00pm (small shark and ray feeding Thursday & Friday at 1:30pm, and 1:30pm & 3:00pm on Saturdays. Reptile encounter throughout the afternoons) 

The Aquarium & Shark Lab by Team ECCO is:

  • Member of: Oceana, American Elasmobranch Society; NC Science Network; National Marine Educators; American Meteorological Society, NMEA, Nature Foundation of St. Maarten, AMS, Reef Check
  • Listed in the top 150 aquariums in the USA by Everything Fish Keeping
  • Member of the  Career & Technical Education Advisory Board HCPS;
  • An NC Environmental Education Site; a Fish Education Site for REEF;
  • Part of the NC Chapel Hill pilot program for environmental education
  • Has established networks with the GA Aquarium, Riverbanks Zoo, John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, and The Field Museum in Chicago
  •  Has provided service work and training at the Biosphere2 in AZ.
  • Houses the only immersive marine science intern program for college and high school students in WNC

Hop N Roll Summer Concert Series

Join us on the following 4 Saturdays for live music. Music will be held on the stage in Firefly Field each night, weather permitting, beginning at 7PM. The Hungry Ghost will be open and serving food until 8:30PM. The bar will offer 13 house-made beers, wine, cider, our very own ginger beer and hard seltzer, house-made NA 2 Ditty Root Beer, non-alcoholic beer, and variety of sodas, juice boxes, bottled, water, tea, and seltzer waters. Feel free to bring your own chairs or blankets. Outside alcohol is not permitted. Coolers are not permitted. Leashed, well-behaved animals are welcome to attend.

  • August 12th: Sawtooth Troubadours (Sawtooth Troubadours is a new, top secret, side project from Skunk Runkus front man and Blue Ghost brewer, Jim McCarthy.)
  • September 16th: Caged Affair (A pop-punk experience based out of NC. “Probably the best band I have ever heard” – Intoxicated middle aged lady at our last show

Spring Into Reading Family Reading Night

Join our friends Read to Succeed Asheville/Buncombe and the YWCA of Asheville for their Spring Into Reading Family Night.
Book-themed games and literacy activities with prizes, free family reading resources and literacy kits, a coloring station, live read-alouds with Books Alive with Ms. Ann, free dinner from Daddy Ds On Wheels and more!
Literacy kits feature “M Is for Melanin” by Tiffany Rose, a custom comprehension guide, a self portrait for coloring with Colors of the World Crayola crayons and an ABC Dot Marker activity to practice letter recognition.

CANCELLED: Summer Camp Expo 2023

UPDATE! This event has been cancelled by the Asheville Outlets
The Expo will give parents and campers the opportunity to meet representatives and view booths and displays from a variety of area camps, including: traditional overnight camps, sports camps, arts camps, day camps, academic camps and more. The event will also feature strolling magic, a face painter, live music and more.
Booths and displays will be located throughout the center.
The event is free and open to the public.

Festival of Fairies & Fools

The much anticipated Festival of Fairies and Fools is happening at Horse Shoe Gap Village on Saturday April 15th at 10am to 2pm.

☆Local crafters with honey, Spring Fling Cakes, pottery, 3D art, etc.
☆Free face painting from 11-2 pm by The Sea Mither
☆Fairy Scavenger Hunt and games for prizes
☆Fairy Hair Booth
☆Snow Cones and food

The cost is free and so is the parking…however, space is limited so carpool if you can!

Boho Hippie Festival

  • Saturday May 11th 11am-10pm
  • Sunday May 12 11am-7pm

Join us for our 3rd Annual Boho Hippie Festival located at the Maggie Valley Festival Grounds! Each year we plan to bring more fun and entertainment for your whole family! Put them bell bottoms on, put a feather and flower in your hair and come out!

We will have live music both days, food trucks, performance artists, hula hoop dancers, live glass blowing, face painters, over 100 unique vendors, tie dye station and so much more for the family!

Speakeasy Clean Show

We welcome back an Asheville favorite, Brothers Grimmprov! Come and enjoy a show with all of the twisted fairy tales you could imagine and play for the whole family. We will also have improvisers from around the community performing games with children and adults of all ages throughout the show.
Tickets can be purchased in advanced.

We’ve partnered with AMC Theatres in Asheville, NC to sponsor a sensory-friendly showing of the new release The Super Mario Bros. Movie on Saturday, April 22nd! The entire theater will be sensory-friendly so that all can enjoy the show, and tickets are FREE for individuals with sensory needs, their family and friends.
