Thursday nights, June 15th-Aug 17th are all about creative block play at Pack Library! Come on in and build. This weekly drop in event is fun for the whole family. New blocks will be added throughout the summer.

Hobey Ford and his Golden Rod puppets explore the wonders of migration through the story of a Mexican girl named Beatriz and her migration to the United States juxtaposed with the stories of other animals that migrate; Monarch Butterflies, polar bears, the Godwit bird and the Sperm Whale. To take the audience along the journey of these amazing creatures, realistic puppets perform behind a thin circular scrim onto which is projected Hobey’s original artwork. Hobey performs in full view in his role as storyteller and puppeteer creating a seamless and gorgeous production with a touching story of hope and change. The show will be followed by a question and answer session with Hobey and his puppets. Age 5 & up.

WCU Roadworks, School of Music performing ensemble will present The Catamount Singers and Electric Soul. “Living The Dream.” This free show consists mostly of energetic modern pop tunes, Jazz standards, and classic rock, all complete with impressive choreography. It will feature each of the singers, along with brief narrations about the School of Music and the arts at WCU.
June is Pollinator Month. To celebrate our pollinators, the Park at Flat Rock will be offering two Nature Walks in June that identify Pollinator Plants and Pollinators. Naturalist, Roselie Estey will lead walks in the park on Thursday, June 15 and Saturday, June 24. The walks will start at the park pavilion at 9:00 AM and are free to the public. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No pets please.
