Open Streets Asheville 2017: Shape Your City
Open Streets Asheville organizes FREE public events (like Shape Your City 2017 on Sunday, Sept 17 from 1-5 PM) that inspire thousands of Asheville residents to bike, walk, shop and play on car-free downtown streets. Over 50 local businesses and organizations offer free entertainment and education tucked inside street activities that inspire all ages & all lifestyles to enjoy physical activity; build community; and build a better Asheville.
Shape Your City 2017 boasts 5 themed stations on downtown streets (between Pack Square Park and Pritchard Park) filled with FREE fun like dancing; martial arts; life-size painting; playground games; massage; gymnastics; yoga & acro-yoga; health screenings; improv performances, live music; caricatures; advocacy opportunities; selfie station; pop-up playground; oh, and lots more. All free. Add your own spontaneous, family-friendly fun!
WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING? Bring helmets if you have them because it’s the smart thing to do. Add to that your bikes & skates; skateboards & unicycles; walkers & wheelchairs; Big Wheels and Stryders; tricycles too! Pack some pocket change for shopping and snacks at downtown’s wonderful Local shops & cafes. Tell ’em Open Streets sent you (we’re all about Local Ashevile: no outside vendors, merchandise sales, or tent canyons in the streets at Open Streets).
