Racing Extinction with Special Guest Leilani Münter!
Sanctuary Brewing is proud to announce the screening of the award-winning film, Racing Extinction. One of the stars of the film, Race Car Driver and Activist Leilani Münter will be joining, as will Asheville Vegan Outreach (AVO) Activists and MountainTrue. The event is free to the public, but please register as seats will fill up fast.
In Racing Extinction, a team of artists and activists exposes the hidden world of extinction with never-before-seen images that will change the way we see the planet. Two worlds drive extinction across the globe, potentially resulting in the loss of half of all species. The international wildlife trade creates bogus markets at the expense of creatures that have survived on this planet for millions of years. And the other surrounds us, hiding in plain sight a world that the oil and gas companies don’t want the rest of us to see. Using covert tactics and state-of-the-art technology, the Racing Extinction team exposes these two worlds in an inspiring affirmation to preserve life as we know it. From the Academy Award® Winning Filmmakers of “The Cove”.
Leilani Münter is a biology graduate turned race car driver and environmental activist. She believes it is essential for humans to adapt and evolve the way we are living to a sustainable way that does not destroy the world around us. Leilani is an advocate for renewable energy, solar power, electric cars, plant-based diet and animals. Leilani wants our future to be a cleaner and kinder world.

Author Reading – Global Punk
Kevin Dunn, reads from his recent book GLOBAL PUNK, which examines the global phenomenon of DIY (do-it-yourself) punk, arguing that it provides a powerful tool for political resistance and personal self-empowerment. Drawing examples from across the evolution of punk – from the streets of 1976 London to the alleys of contemporary Jakarta – GLOBAL PUNK is both historically rich and global in scope. Looking beyond the music to explore DIY punk as a lived experience, GLOBAL PUNK examines the ways in which punk contributes to the process of disalienation and political engagement. The book critically examines the impact that DIY punk has had on both individuals and communities, and offers chapter-length investigations of two important aspects of DIY punk culture: independent record labels and self-published zines. Grounded in scholarly theories, but written in a highly accessible style, GLOBAL PUNK shows why DIY punk remains a vital cultural form for hundreds of thousands of people across the globe today.
