Summer Lights is an outdoor summer concert series and projected-light show held in The North Carolina Arboretum’s Outdoor Events Amphitheater. Held Friday and Saturday, July 27 – 28 and August 3 -4, 2018, from 8 – 10 p.m., guests will enjoy a musical performance by the acclaimed Blue Ridge Orchestra, an all-volunteer ensemble conducted by Milton Crotts. After sunset, a specially designed projected-light show that is synchronized to music will be displayed behind the Amphitheater’s woodland backdrop. Event proceeds will help support the Arboretum’s programs, exhibits and facilities year-round.
Gates will open at 7:00 p.m. for ticket holders, and the show will begin promptly at 8:00 p.m. Reserved seating is available for guests who purchase Premium Seating tickets. Lawn seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Lawn seating ticket holders are also welcome to bring folding chairs and blankets to place on the lawn above the Amphitheater. From 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., ticket holders may also visit the Making Scents exhibit and Connections Gallery gift shop inside the Baker Exhibit Center, and the Arboretum’s Rocky Cove Railroad will be running before the show. Bent Creek Bistro will have food and beverages, including beer and wine, available for purchase during the show.
Please note: If a show is cancelled due to inclement weather before intermission, all ticket holders will have the opportunity to exchange their ticket for a different night or request a refund. All exchanges will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis by calling 828-665-2492. If the show is cancelled after intermission, refunds or exchanges will not be granted.

Come with your family (grown up, adult, caregiver, siblings) and spend time creating and being challenged! Every third Saturday of the month there will be a new challenge. When you arrive your family will be given a box filled with supplies for you to use to complete the challenge collaboratively. There is no set time on the making, drop in whenever you want and stay as long as you like. No experience required!
Asheville Dog Owners! Years ago we hosted Doggie Ice Cream Socials at The Hop on Merrimon. Now they are back at The Hop Ice Creamery! We will be opening up the outdoor event space of The Creamery to any and all dogs who would like to join! Happy Tails Doggie Ice Cream as well as regular Ice Cream for people will be on the menu 🙂
Join us for our first Family Movie Night in Central Park! Bring the kids and a blanket and head downtown to Central Park for a FREE movie under the stars. We will be showing “The Secret Life of Pets” (rated PG). Admission is free, but space is limited so get here and get your seat on the grass early. Movie begins at dusk and popcorn/drinks will be available.

Teens grades 6-12 are welcome to come learn basic wilderness first aid from a Chimney Rock Park Ranger. We will also have supplies on hand to start your own first aid kit!
