Appalachia Day
Appalachia Day is a full day event this year with three parts:
- A morning guided hike on the Strawberry Gap Trail to Blue Ridge Pastures (please register for the hike in advance)
- A free family-friendly festival and local market at Hickory Nut Gap Farm in Fairview, NC
- An evening, ticketed concert with the Darren Nicholson Band, benefiting SAHC – at Hickory Nut Gap Farm.
Come out and celebrate what you love about our mountain home – the views, hiking, local arts, food, live music and quality time with friends and family.
During the day, there will be food trucks on site, live music all day, a craft village market until 6 pm, a raffle and more farm fun for the whole family!

RAD Renaissance
The River Arts District (RAD) is rising!! On Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m., Asheville’s iconic arts district will host RAD Renaissance, a powerful celebration of art, resilience, and renewal. As spring breathes new life into the city, this event will showcase the strength of the RAD community and mark a major milestone in its ongoing recovery from Hurricane Helene’s historic flooding.
RAD Renaissance is more than an event; it’s a movement. Whether you’re a longtime supporter or visiting for the first time, now is the time to be part of the RAD comeback.
Event Highlights & Experiences
- Tour the Upper RAD & the RAD Art Market – Explore artist studios, collectives, and galleries, and shop for locally made artwork.
- Support displaced RAD artists, who will have outdoor booths set up throughout the Upper RAD.
- Savor the flavors of spring – Enjoy a variety of pop-up food trucks, plus local restaurants, cafés, breweries, and bars here. (Be sure to make dinner reservations!)
- Immerse yourself in live music & storytelling – Experience performances throughout the district, celebrating the theme “The Sounds of Place.”

FREE Family Bootcamp (ages 5+)
Make the most of your workout time while showing your children the benefits of staying active! Parents and kids are invited to a free Family Bootcamp at the Reuter Family Y on Saturday, April 26 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. This fun, energetic event is a great way to build healthy habits as a family in a safe and supportive environment.
