The Florida Keys are a special place to our Barstool Sailor Micah. Having spent much of his life there, to know Micah is to know his love for those islands. When we began seeing footage in of Irmas devastation, all we could think was “How can we help?”. This Saturday Micah will be performing a special benefit concert to help a dear friend Mr. David Eaken who along with his family lost everything when Irma hit. A little about David from Micah:
“He and his family have a lifetime connection to the Florida Keys. Dave is one of the most accomplished watermen in the world, an Eagle Scout, Florida Keys Marine Sanctuary employee, marine biologist since 92, and last week he lost his home. His family home was a house that he and his father built on No Name Key around 1987. After surviving several hurricanes, Irma tore the roof off and he and his family lost everything.
Dave works harder than anyone I know to stay at a state job that is environmentally consious but unfortunately financially thin. He has been my longest and best friend since freshman year. I can’t think of anyone karmically more important to help. Ironically, He goes by the nickname Tidalwave Dave which our buddy Bill French Jr. gave him for belly flopping from the tuna tower off a swaying boat freshman year…Tidalwave Dave! Bigger than Life…”
Please join us as we help David and his family rebuild. Micah will be playing on the deck from 6-9 and 25% of our sales that day will go to David and his family. There will be raffle tickets on sale for $5 for Whistle Hop merchandise and other locally made items. If you are interested in donating items to our raffle please contact us at info@whistlehop.com.
It’s time for South Asheville’s Fall Blowout!
Join us on the Post 25 campus for a fun-filled day including live music, cornhole and beer pong tournaments, a Brother Wolf Animal RescueFood Drive and Animal Adoption, children’s activities, and of course, excellent burgers, hot dogs, and funnel cake with beer specials flowing!
We will have Rhonda Weaver & the Soul Mates and Empire Strikes Brasson stage for the first half of the evening, leading into our monthly dance party with DJ Costradamus spinning his set starting at 10pm.
There will be sign-ups for a Cornhole Tournament and a Beer Pong Tournament with prizes for the top three finishers.
We will be fundraising for Brother Wolf Animal Rescue through beer donations from South Asheville breweries, including Blue Ghost Brewing, Sweeten Creek Brewing, and our friends at Empire Distributing. Brother Wolf will be on site hosting animal adoptions and a Dog/Cat food drive, so be sure to bring food for these sweet kitties and pups, and potentially even leave with a new member of your family!

Kids are more than welcome too, with a bouncy house and face-painting on site to keep the little ones entertained.
