All Scales Model Train Show

Hours: 12:00noon – 7:00pm (Friday) & 10:00am – 4:00pm (Saturday)
Admission: Teens & Adults $6.00 for both days, Children under 12 and Scouts in uniform free.
Operating Layouts
The show will feature operating layouts from Z – #1 Scale layouts, Tables of model railroad equipment and supplies in all scales from Z to G, railroad memorabilia, clothing items and railroad art. There will be door prizes.

Ultimate Air Dog Competition

It is high flying fun Columbus Day Weekend as Asheville Outlets, (www.shopashevilleoutlets.com) Ingles and iHeart Radio team up to host the 3rd Annual Air Dogs (UAD) Competition October 6 – 8, 2017. For 3 days, shoppers will enjoy watching the competitor’s jump, catch, dive and retrieve in a 90’ pool set-up in the parking lot in front of Field & Stream. The competition begins Friday, October 6th at 5 p.m. and runs through 4:30 p.m., Sunday, October 8th. The event is free to spectators.

Monster Pumpkin Mash

Come create your own monster pumpkin with the Asheville Museum of Science. We will have all of the supplies, just bring your creativity! On October 21st from 1:30-4:30pm in the STEM Lab their will be pumpkins*, nuts, bolts, washers, and other bits and bobs to create your vary own monster in the AMOS STEM Lab. This event is included with admission, with a suggested donation of $3/pumpkin.

Yoga Party Halloween! (all ages)

Join children’s yoga expert Brandon from Black Mountain Yoga in a series of Halloween stories and play. Healthy(ish) snacks and non-food treats will be there for all. Please come in a costume comfortable enough for simple yoga poses. Fun for all ages.

Carved Pumpkin Contest & Movie Screening

Join us the weekend before Halloween for a carved pumpkin contest and a screening of “Hocus Pocus.” Rated PG.

Bring your carved pumpkin for a chance to win a prize! The audience gets to vote for the best pumpkin, during the movie the votes will be tallied for the winner and runner up. After the movie the winners will be announced. If you want to enter the contest, but can’t stick around for the movie, let us know! You can drop your pumpkin off and it can still be eligible to win, leave your name and phone number/ email address with the pumpkin AND if you will be returning to pick it up. Pumpkins will be featured on the Pack Library Facebook Page.

This program is FREE and everyone is welcome! Snacks & Cider complimentary. Held in auditorium downstairs.
***Pumpkins must be carved to enter contest. NO ONE can carve a pumpkin in the library.***

Exploring Birds for EcoExplorers

Join us as we learn how to help scientists study birds at your  library and in your own neighborhood! We’ll learn how to recognize some common birds and how you can use colors, sizes, flight patterns and more to identify the variety of birds that call our area home.
