Team Launch Party!

We’re kicking off the Feed Hungry Kids Project Women’s Cycling US Tour with a team launch party in Asheville benefitting MANNA food bank. Come hang out and enjoy an afternoon of food, fun and lots of laughs as we present the 2018 squad and give you a preview of the events we’ll be hosting throughout the year. Kids’ Fishing Fun (6-12yrs)

For ages 6-12 (must be accompanied by an adult)
This class is great for kids who have never fished before but would like to try. We’ll go over basic casting and try to catch the big one. Fishing poles and bait provided. Pre-registration required.

3rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Get ready for our 3rd annual Community Easter Egg Hunt! We will have a bouncy slide this year, 12 golden eggs (each with a special surprise!), 3 egg hunts for each age group, free food, face painting, yard games, and so much more! Here come the sharks! Grand RE-OPENING!

The Team ECCO Aquarium & Shark Lab will be celebrating as we re-open our doors! We invite you to join us in this celebration of ocean and community. The event will showcase our new 2,000 gallon shark study tank, 250 gallon venomous fish exhibit, along with new tortoise and turtle habitats, a reptile corner, explorer teaching station, and a completely upgraded interior. There will be entertainment including face painting, stilt walkers, and live music. We encourage you to dress as pirates and come take the sea!
The new shark study system was made possible with support from The Henderson County TDA, Community Foundation of Henderson County, and NC Science Museum grant program, who joined local businesses and individuals who contributed to make the sea in WNC happen.

Teen Craft Club (6th-12th Grade)

Personalize your own light switch cover with washi tape!

For teens in grades 6-12; all supplies will be provided.  This free program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

It’s Electric! (3rd-6th Grade)

We depend on electricity everyday, but how does it work? Can everyday materials conduct electricity? Learn about circuits, lightning, batteries, and conductors as you explore the electric world!

This free program is funded by the Friends of the Mills River Library.

Exploring Insects

Discover the fascinating world of insects. Study habitats, learn about life cycles, and create an insect model to bring home.

Velodrome Ribbon Cutting – Cyclists, runners & all park users

**Rescheduled to Mar 28th due to weather

This date and time now has official word from Asheville Parks and Rec!

Cyclists, runners, walkers, kids, skaters….all park users are invited to celebrate the momentous reoppening of the new and improved Mellowdrome! Well in time for the 2018 Boyd Cycling Ring of Fire, we will have a brand new track for some intense and refined racing action! But this day is slated for all park users to celebrate by attending the ribbon cutting and to lead our the first laps at the track. We hope to see you there to join us!
