FLOWER ARRANGING WORKSHOP WITH LADY LUCK (8-12yrs)

PLEASE NOTE! This item includes the prices of admission for children ages 8-12 and a handmade Small Egg Vase in the color of their choice.  

Wanna spend Mother’s Day arranging flowers with your favorite kid? Bring them along! Kids ages 8-12 are invited to join the workshop for snacks, flowers, and quality hang time.  If your favorite kid is over 12, they’ll need their own adult ticket.  Please send an e-mail to erin@eastforkpottery.com if you have any questions or concerns!

This $30 bitty bouquet ticket includes a Small Egg Vase in one of our spring-y new glaze colors Taro or Utah.

As a mama of a 3 year old, I hate to put an age limit on this, but ALSO as a mama of a 3 year old I can tell you that scissors and thorns and high tables in a shop full of breakable stuff doesn’t make for a relaxing afternoon for mamas with toddlers.  The Bitty Bouquet ticket is reserved for kids 8-12.  If your child is over 12, they’ll have a LOT more fun making an arrangement in a real vase – please purchase a full-size ticket.

AVENUE Q is the laugh-out-loud puppet Broadway Musical that tells the timeless story of a recent college graduate named Princeton who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. There, he meets Kate (the girl next door), Rod (the Republican), Trekkie Monster (the creep upstairs), Gary Coleman (yes, that Gary Coleman), and other colorful types who might help Princeton finally discover his purpose in life!

Creative Intervention Event

Have you ever experienced the gritty charm of downtown Asheville’s largely undiscovered Carolina Lane? Perhaps you are more familiar with its more famous cousin, Chicken Alley? On May 5, these alleyways and nearby streets will host a Creative Intervention – that is, a one-day event that prototypes design interventions and art-based solutions that shift how the public interacts with urban spaces.

The event is free and open to the public. It is one component of the Broadway Cultural Gateway project, an effort to transform Broadway Street into a central artery for a vibrant arts and cultural district stretching from its intersection with Woodfin Street to the cultural attractions of Pack Place.

The Asheville Design Center (ADC), the Center for Craft, UNC Asheville students and faculty, UNCA STEAM Studio, Asheville Downtown Association, and League of Creative Interventionists, among others, will activate the study area to engage the public around what’s possible. For example, the Center for Craft will host a pop-up makerspace and ‘repair cafe’ in its Carolina Lane-facing basement, along with a temporary parklet in front of the Broadway Street entrance.

Activities include:
art installations and live performances by UNC-Asheville students and faculty Temporary Pop-up Makerspace & ‘Repair Cafe’ at the Center for Craft, including interactive activities offered by Center for Craft, Penland School of Crafts, UNCA STEAM Studio, Horse & Hero, Roots & Wings, Asheville Makers, Diamond Brand, Echoview Fiber Mill.

The May 5 Creative Intervention Event is an opportunity for the public to experience the potential of a “creative intervention” to transform difficult and unexpected public spaces. ADC’s team of design and planning experts will collect community feedback and data from the event to inform both a long-term implementation plan for the Broadway Cultural Gateway project.

Pong AVL will be popping by with killer JOOLA ping pong tables offered up on the half hour and hour from 12:00 – 3:00 pm. Tables come with premium paddles and balls and are up for grabs on a first come, first served basis.

Grand Opening Party!

Come celebrate the grand opening of Lee’s Hoagie House in Candler, NC with us and help us raise money for Our VOICE! A percentage of all sales for the day will be donated to Our Voice, and Our Voice staff will be at the grand opening giving out information and taking donations.
