STEP AFRIKA Stage Production

Friday & Saturday, April 19 & 20, 2024 at 7 p.m.

Feel the irresistible energy and heart-pounding rhythms of dance with the first professional dance company dedicated to the art of stepping. These multi-talented artists showcase a unique and vibrant form of dance that combines percussive footwork, call-and-response chants and high-energy performance — blending African American dance styles, traditional African dances and an array of contemporary dance and art forms into one cohesive, compelling artistic experience.

Pre-Show Drumming Workshop at the Wortham: Arrive at 6 p.m. to participate in a pre-show drumming workshop led by LEAF Global Arts Teaching Artist Adama Dembele. Free to ticket holders.

Summer Fun on the Farm

Family run all ability farm experiences, tours, and workshops. Play with our herd of miniature goats, pet some cows, hop around with the bunnies and make a chicken friend. There are awesome memories to be made! We will be open to the public this summer, starting June 7th, 2024! No need to RSVP. Tickets purchased upon arrival. Cash or card.

Giant Super Mega Music Festival

Join the Music Department for an afternoon of great listening and good times! From rock to jazz, classical to bluegrass, the Giant Super Mega Music Festival will showcase performances from eleven (!) different student ensembles on three different stages. Roll out your picnic blankets, visit the food truck, bring a frisbee, and come be a part of an unforgettable day at UNC Asheville. FREE!

Farm Play Day

Come pet, snuggle, and take plenty of pictures with our sweet and furry crew. We keep our event numbers relatively small, so everyone has plenty of hands on time. Throw the mobility devices in the car and watch our people get to channel their inner farmer! Special Needs Farm Day is one you don’t want to miss! Packed with therapeutic activities – this relaxing and calm, sensory friendly farm experience is sure to be a blast. Come hang out with our sweet and docile animals, and be sure to capture a few pictures. Designed by a local occupational therapist, this event is made, especially for those with special needs and their families.

Come and see what the farm life is all about! With plenty of areas to explore, you’ll get to have hands on experiences with many of our furry friends. Be ready for a day of fun and play. Wear close toed shoes and bring your camera! All guests must sign a waiver upon arrival.

Please purchase a ticket for all other visitors (including parents-caregivers).

Asheville Family Adventure Fest

Get ready Asheville for our first Asheville Family Adventure Fest as we celebrate two things that make Asheville the great place it is. It’s time to celebrate Family & Adventure TOGETHER………Asheville style.

This quick afternoon burst of activity & fun is perfect for young and old. The aptly named Adventure Center of Asheville will be the festival host site with event production help from our friends at Asheville Plays (Another aptly named and fabulous local family business!) Think Spring Festival but overflowing with adventure activities for all ages!! Soooo, pack up the car, hop on a bike, lace up those hiking shoes, launch that kayak, strap on the waders (or however you get around!) AND don’t forget the kids for an afternoon at Asheville Family Adventure Fest. 100% of proceeds go to support Camp Lakey Gap Autism Programs!

 

Harmonies of Hope: A Concert to Feed Hendersonville, featuring Molasses Creek

Music begins at 12:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary Garden Chapel

Molasses Creek, of Ocracoke Island, NC, known for their high-energy performances, will take the outdoor stage at 12:30 p.m. Come and enjoy their elegant arrangements of folk, traditional, bluegrass, originals, and covers. We’ll have food trucks and activities for the young and young at heart in the adjacent parking lots.

All proceeds benefit the Hendersonville Rescue Mission, Interfaith Assistance Ministries, and The Storehouse.

Wildflowers and Wellness

Introducing Wildflowers and Wellness! A free outdoor event in front of Reuter Family YMCA on Saturday, May 11th, from 1-5 PM.

Enjoy free classes from Reuter Family YMCA, REI, and Club Pilates instructors, peruse informational booths, shop for fresh-cut flowers from Black Dog Flowers and Posy On Wheels, and participate in family-friendly activities and giveaways.
