Special Olympics Spring Games
Come cheer on local Special Olympics athletes at the May 3, 2018 Spring Games at TC Roberson High School football field. Opening ceremonies begin at 9:15 am.
Buncombe County Special Olympics will host the 2018 Spring Games Day event beginning at 9am. Athletes, from across Buncombe County, ages 6 years through adult will compete and show their skills in various track and field events.
The annual Spring Games are the program’s largest event drawing upwards of 500 athletes and 1000 volunteers to showcase the comradery and competitive talents of area Special Olympic athletes. The Spring Games complement the program’s year round athletic training and competitions for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Buncombe County Special Olympics encourages the local community to attend the Spring Games to recognize and celebrate the achievements of the athletes and to highlight the support of their accomplishments. Like any local athlete, Special Olympics athletes need to hear the cheers and encouragement of their fans.
Visitors to the games can stop by and visit the Olympic Village and visit a variety of local mascots from area businesses and sports teams. There will be face painters, dance music, and live animals from the North Buncombe High School Chapter of the Future Farmers of America.
