‘AMPED Live Fully Alive’ Vacation Bible School begins (3yrs-6th Grade)
June 18th-21st
Vacation Bible School is a wonderful summer tradition in which children, youth, and adults share and learn the Bible stories of our faith as the sing, play, enjoy crafts, and serve God by helping others – all in a safe, loving, and fun environment. First UMC is a Safe Sanctuary Church.
Children who are 3 years old by Vacation Bible School
through rising 6th graders may attend.
All 3 year olds must be potty trained.

‘Exploring the life of David: A Life of Purpose’ Vacation Bible School begins
July 30th-Aug 3rd
Covenant VBS will bring children back to the time when David was a shepherd in Bethlehem all the way to the final days of his life as king of Israel. Our VBS will follow the ups and downs of his life struggles and see that God had purpose in each and every moment of his life.
Some of their experiences will include:
-Purpose and blessing of a name
-Covenant: Promises we are given and make
-Responsibility of leadership in every role we have
-Archery
-Exploring the caves where David hid
-Eating a 5-course meal worthy of a king

Cardboard Regatta & End of Summer Pool Party
Get crafty this summer building your cardboard boat and get ready to test its seaworthiness with your shipmates. Teams will race across the pool and vie for awards in various categories. Requirements for boat materials, rules & awards available online. Captains and their boats must check-in at 12:45pm. Boat passengers must be at least 7 years of age. Participants must
register online – no walk-ins on the day of the event. All racers receive free entry into the end of summer pool party at Malvern Hills following the race. Race starts @ 1pm sharp and the Pool Party starts @ 2pm.

Troutacular Spruce Pine 2019
Always the First Saturday in June, Troutacular is a celebration of Spruce Pine’s Mountain Heritage Trout Waters designation.This one day event is designed for children to learn and enjoy one of Mitchell Counties greatest resources.From Sun Rise until noon, this free event for children, ages 15 and under, compete in a fishing tournament and enjoy other entertaining activities.

Movies in the Park
Join us for a night under the stars. Bring your blanket and grab a seat on the lawn for a family friendly night of fun. All movies are FREE to the public. Refreshments will be available. Movies begin at dusk. (In lieu of inclement weather, stay tuned to our Facebook page for a rain date).

Art of Dance Studio ~ Open House!
The Art of Dance Studio will host an open house on July 28th from 9am-2pm. Free dance classes will be held all day! You can meet all of the staff and teachers and register for Fall classes.

Really any age can do it! If the child is well behaved and can concentrate I would say age 8. This class is more geared to adults but beneficial for both.

Live at Aloft Summer Series
We are pleased to announce the kickoff of our 2018 Sundays Live@Aloft concert series, which features a live performance by The Rock Academy on May 27th from 5 until 8 pm at our rooftop pool.
The Rock Academy is an Asheville music school that teaches kids how to rock and perform on stage. The event is open to the public, and a suggested $5 donation will help pay for music lessons and instruments for children who could not afford them otherwise.
