Scientists need YOUR help in studying animals everywhere, including your own backyard!
Join us for an introduction to entomology, the study of insects. You’ll learn all about our creepy and crawly friends and even meet a few live insects! You can also join our crew of ecoEXPLORERS — kids who submit observations of plants and animals for scientists to study and earn prizes while they do it.
Find out how you can earn your Entomology Field Badge and a free pass to Monarch Butterfly Day on September 8th. For ages 5 to 13 but all ages are welcome to attend.

Free popcorn, lemonade, and Kona Ice! The AFD will be stopping by to say hello and show off one of their fire trucks. Lots of fun activities planned like games, photo booth, wellness checks, exercise demonstrations, craft, and senior related services vendor booths. Something fun for everyone!

The Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands returns to downtown Asheville’s Harrah’s Cherokee Center. Over 100 juried artisans of the Southern Highland Craft Guild will fill both the concourse and arena levels of the venue. Visitors are invited to explore a variety of fine American craft ranging from contemporary to traditional works of clay, wood, metal, glass, fiber, natural materials, paper, leather, mixed media, and jewelry. The City of Asheville is proud to join with the East End/Valley Street Neighborhood Association for a ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion of one of the City’s first big bond projects — the resurfacing of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Everyone is welcome to join City officials, staff and members of the neighborhood for the celebration at 9 a.m. July 14 at Martin Luther King Jr. Park, 50 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
The bond-funded Martin Luther King Jr. Drive project cost $2.5 million, including sidewalks, stormwater improvements and other infrastructure.
