Sunday Fund Day
Sunday, July 22nd, we will be fundraising for The Asheville Tool Library! A portion of all sales from 12am – 12pm will go towards helping them renovate and move into their new space.
– At 4:00 pm the Asheville Tool Library will hold a pallet busting workshop to show how to easily take apart pallets and remove nails using specialty tools the Asheville Tool Library has in inventory. They will then build birdhouses to put up around One World West!
– At 7:30 pm Dyado will play a donation based show!
The Asheville Tool Library is QUADRUPLING in size! They are moving into the City Transmission building at 55 Southside Ave. This new space will allow them to expand their inventory, give away free consumables like screws lumber and paint and build a tool maintenance area! In order to do this, they need your help!
Please come to the fundraising event at One World Brewing, show up to a work party or make a financial contribution via PayPal. For more information please contact librarian@ashevilletoollibrary.org
Mission Statement:
The Asheville Tool Library’s mission is to provide low-cost access to a wide range of tools, literature, and knowledge to citizens of western NC. National Hammock Day Celebration
On July 22, we salute the symbol of absolute outdoor comfort: the hammock. We’re celebrating with ENO giveaways, workshops and classes, and hammock trivia with prizes.
/// SCHEDULE ///
11:00 – Trivia with Prizes
12:00 – Hammock Camping Basics
1:00 – ENO Gadgets Explained
1:30 – How to Set Up Hammocks, Airpods, + Stands
Developed by the Maya peoples as far back as 1,000 years ago, hammocks served as a widely-used sleeping vessel suspended above otherwise dirty ground, offering protection from snakes and rodents. European explorers modified the technology, replacing plant fibers and bark with cotton and canvas. By the 20th century, the design of hammocks had been significantly altered and were heavily used by military forces thanks to their space saving portability.
Hammocks and hammock accessories continue to evolve. In WNC, an ENO hammock is the symbol of leisure, relaxation, and easy living. More than just a backyard (and indoor) accessory, hammocks are catching on as replacements for tents with many backpackers thanks to their lightweight and versatility.
