International SUNday

International SUNday is an annual solar outreach event celebrating the summer solstice, featuring the Earth’s nearest star – our Sun!

Join the Astronomy Club of Asheville this Sunday, June 24th, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for an afternoon of observing through safe solar telescopes!

The event is free and open to the general public.

Located in parking lot P8 off Campus View Rd (opposite the Reuter Center) on the north end of the UNC Asheville campus (https://maps.unca.edu/).

Remember, this event is subject to weather. Please check the Astronomy Club of Asheville website (www.AstroAsheville.org) as conditions could cancel this solar observing event. Check-in again after 10:00 a.m. on the day of the observing session for the latest info and update.

Science Jamboree

On a select Fridays each month, the Learning Center will offer events designed especially for families visiting our campus. Friday Science Jamborees will feature live music, snacks from Smiley’s, presentations at the AdventureDome planetarium, stargazing at the Sky Deck and tours of the NASA artifact, mineral, and meteorite exhibits!

Science Jamboree is a Rain Or Shine evening event that showcases the night sky from a variety of perspectives and experiences.

Reservations are required for this event: $20 (adults), $8 (children age 6-11), with children 5 and under FREE.

Sleep Tight Kids Benefit Concert featuring Groove Connection

Bring the whole family out for a fun evening of friends and music all while benefiting a great organization! For the adults there will be beer and entertainment provided and for the kids the Kona ice cream truck will be on site!

Cost: minimum donation per adult is $15; minimum donation per child is $10 (16 and under)

Papa Strong AVL – Date with Dad Kindermusik Class

Join Kindermusik teacher Ms. Yvette (value $20) for some musical fun with your child/ren. You will have the opportunity to download music to practice with your kids at home! Ice cream at The Hop following the music class.

We must have at least four (4) sign up or will be forced to cancel. Please RSVP immediately! This event is FREE

Twilight in the Treetops- Night Climbs

The Adventure Center of Asheville will be offering a night climb at the Treetops Adventure Park. Watch the world transform from dusk to night while climbing in the trees. Trails will be illuminated to give climbing the obstacles a new perspective. Over 15,000 colored lights, plus colorful lasers sparkling on thousands of leaves, cables, rope, and platforms throughout the park will create a mystical tree climbing experience like you can’t imagine.

The Twilight session start time is 4:30. The introductory price this year is $37/person. Standard day sessions are $47. The Red course is not open during the Twilight climbs.

Headlock on Hunger Food Drive

Join #teamheadlock Wednesday July 11th at the Ingles on Tunnel Rd, we are collecting food for kids on break from school who may not have enough to eat at home! Your donation of easy to prepare food will help a child in need. Meet WWE Hall of Famers Jim Ross, Edge, Beth Phoenix and JJ Dillon!

Meet Team Headlock featuring Our WWE Hall of Famers! 10:00am-Noon and 1:00pm-3:00pm

Fairy Garden Workshop

Come join the fairy team for a magical day of creating your own complete, tabletop fairy garden. Gardens can include a fairy house, garden paths, and much more all beautifully landscaped in a garden dish. Children may participate with an accompanying adult. No skills needed. $50. Limited to 12

Fairy Days (4+yrs)

June 21 & 22, 9:30-11:30 & 1:00-3:00

A wonderful, imagination filled day for children ages 4 and up to play in the magical world of Fairies. Come join our Fairy team for an exciting, fun-filled day in the Fairy Garden. Activities include Fairy tea, crafts and a tour of the Fairy Garden.

Limited to 12 children per session. $20 per child, $35 for two siblings. Register early as this is one of our most popular events!

End of Summer Bash

Come celebrate the end of summer with Historic Johnson Farm! Games, wagon rides, popcorn and lemonade. Bring a picnic lunch to eat beforehand. FREE!
