Asheville City Schools Back to School Bash
Did you know Asheville City School is hosting a district-wide Back To School Bash?!? Featuring FREE food, FREE school supplies and FREE goodies, we can’t wait to see you there.
Additionally, this is your chance to meet with many community after-school partners.
And don’t forget; the first 50 students will receive a FREE ticket to the Cougar’s first home football game of the season!

Eblen Charities/Ingles Pharmacy Immunization Clinic
We’ve teamed up with our community partners once again to benefit area children who are uninsured or underinsured.
The Eblen Charities/Ingles Pharmacy Immunization Project will provide free vaccines that are required for children who begin Kindergarten or 7th grade this year.
This will coincide with the Eblen Charities Tools for Schools distribution on Wednesday, August 22 from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Professionals will be on-site to provide health screenings and life-saving vaccines. Please bring your child’s vaccination record and insurance or Medicaid information with you.
The Tools for Schools distribution and Immunization Clinic will take place at the Westgate Shopping Center.

WelcomeFEST
Together with the coalition of local chefs known as “Chefs @ Downtown Welcome Table,” Haywood Street Congregation is hosting WelcomeFEST 2018 on Wednesday, August 22nd from 10:30 am – 2:00 pm.
To be held as an annual event, this outdoor festival will feature live music and meals prepared on-site by seven local food trucks. WelcomeFEST will take place in the parking lot of Haywood Street Congregation (297 Haywood Street), where the free community meal known as the Downtown Welcome Table takes place, inside, every Wednesday and Sunday.
Participating food trucks include: Appalachian Chic, Bun Intended, Cecilia’s Kitchen, Gypsy Queen, Mountain View BBQ, Out of the Blue Peruvian Fusion, and Root Down. Music will be provided by Ashley Heath and Her Heathens; Alex Krug, featuring Bill Berg.
Lunch tickets will operate on a buy one/give one philosophy, with each $20 ticket feeding a member of the Asheville community in need, as well as the purchaser. Donations will support the ongoing operations of the Downtown Welcome Table, typically serving 700+ weekly.
Wicked Weed Brewing will provide a trolley to shuttle guests from four pickup points in the downtown Asheville area to the event site, as parking is extremely limited in the vicinity and not offered at the location. Pickup points include: French Broad Chocolate Lounge; the Aloft Hotel; Coxe Ave. across and slightly North from the US Post Office; on Haywood Street across from the Woolworth Walk.

Brews, Burgers & Barbecue: A Country Carnival!
We’re having a good old fashioned country carnival here at Hickory Nut Gap! Varieties of Sliders and BBQ Flights paired with Wicked Weed Brewing beers and the sweet beat of Zydeco Ya Ya‘s music. There will be a Bake Walk with one of Steve’s pies as a prize! There will be all manner of carnival games- come try your luck….

Ice Cream Sundae Social and Chili Cookoff
It’s our annual Ice Cream Sundae Social! 🍨 Join us Saturday, August 25, 6-8pm, at the Edneyville Community Center.
Canoe Grass will play music and NEW this year, we’re having a Chili Cookoff. 🌶️ Enter your favorite chili dish and you might win a cash prize!
The event is free, so come out to enjoy the chili, ice cream and bluegrass. The social is sponsored by Edneyville, NC Grange and Fruitland United Methodist Church.

Join Us for Our “Fill-a-Pack & Give Back” Event!
FAMILY DAY!
Hosted by River Ridge Business Center and The Office Max of Arden! Ladies Workout Asheville, Weichert Realtors, Peaberry Press, Hot Yoga Asheville, and Asheville Dance!
Families come together and fill backpacks with school supplies for surrounding school age children in need.
Let’s Play School! Families will work together to answer grade school academic trivia, take Health and P.E. Gym Class, enjoy electives of Dancing and Singing, eat lunch and drink chocolate milk, have fun at recess and more! Even Earn Reward Stickers!😁
It is Free and Open to the General Public. Just bring a new backpack (or 2 or 3) filled with school supplies to “play school”. Come Enjoy Free Food, Free Bouncy House, and Family Fun & MORE!
All Donations, and Supplies will be given back to Eblen Charities to reach even MORE KIDS!

Back to School Bash 2018
Come support our local youth at the Boys & Girls Clubs annual Back to School Bash on August 18th! Meet us at 750 Haywood Road for great give-a-ways and loads of fun! We will have backpacks full of school supplies, back-to-school clothes and more! The best part, it’s FREE! We’ll have a bounce house, dunk tank, food and fun all waiting for you! All supplies are first come first serve so show up early and join us!
