2nd Annual South Asheville Pie Contest
Think you make the best pie this side of the French Broad? Well, let’s put ’em to the test!
Last year was almost TOO much fun (and too delicious) to not go for a 2nd year in a row! Home bakers, professionals, young or old — all are welcome to enter a pie! There will be categories for Judge’s Choice, Peoples’ Choice, Best Home Baker vs. Best Bakery, etc! Entry fee is $15 per pie entered, and all proceeds go toward a CASH PRIZE for the winners!
We will also have a pie RAFFLE – with all proceeds going directly to a local charity (TBD).
Register via e-mail at jill@ivoryroadavl.com. An e-mail showing interest will receive the official rules, payment info for entering, and more registration details.
This will be a family-friendly event! Coffee, tea, and milk provided. Public is welcome to come taste and judge!
Teams are encouraged, but business entries are limited to one per business.
Come one, come all and let’s see who’s got the best PIE in all the land!
Contest will start at 2pm, at Ivory Road Cafe & Kitchen (1854 Brevard Road, Arden) with the winners being announced no later than 3:30pm.

Fall Hiking
There’s nothing quite like fall in Western Carolina — when the mountain air turns crisp and cool, the nostalgia comes flooding back with overwhelming waves of inexplicable sensation. Autumn is that seasonal sweet spot between the balmy, bug-bitten days of summer and the frigid frost of winter when fiery foliage makes outdoor excursions even more alluring. While out of town leaf-peepers flock to our mountains, some of the area’s most stunning natural spaces remain nearly devoid of visitors.
Join us for a look at the best hiking spots to enjoy views of orange, gold, and purple — from the most popular to the lesser traveled.
Kids and pets on leash are welcome.
