Second Annual Jam In The Trees Raises $2500 to Wild Forests and Fauna;
Announces 2018 Festival Dates
ASHEVILLE, NC — October 5, 2017 — The second annual Jam In The Trees, held Friday, August 25, and Saturday, August 26, 2017, donated $2,500 to the non-profit Wild Forests and Fauna. The two-day Americana music festival took place at Pisgah Brewing Company in Black Mountain, North Carolina, and featured 14 bands on both an outdoor and indoor stage. This is the second year thatJam In The Trees has donated a portion of proceeds to Wild Forests and Fauna (WildFF), who work with local communities in different forests around the world, striving to protect nature for future generations. The festival was also nominated this year for IBMA’s prestigious Momentum Award. JamIn The Trees will return to Pisgah Brewing Company for it’s third year, on August 24th and 25th,2018.
This year’s event featured the Larry Keel Experience as Friday night’s headliner and Saturday’s headliner, The Infamous Stringdusters, as well as an “After Hours Jam” hosted by Jim Lauderdale, Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, with other special guests. Other performances included Acoustic Syndicate, Peter Rowan, Tim O’Brien & Jan Fabricius, Jeffrey Foucault, Front Country, Eilen Jewell, Underhill Rose, Ken Tizzard, Zoe & Cloyd, and Cicada Rhythm. Jam In The Trees strategically schedules band so that there are no overlapping sets.
In addition to music on two stages and award-winning Pisgah beer, food trucks were present on-site as well as unique vendors and local artisans. While Friday night’s taproom events are 18 and up, Saturday’s festivities are family friendly. Entrance is free for kids under 12 (with a paying adult) and festival goers may bring their own lawn chair. Attendees could also purchase VIP tickets for Saturday’s events, which offered intimate meet & greets with multiple artists. The events included Popcorn with Peter Rowan, a Jim Lauderdale Picnic Party, and Biscuits with O’Brien (Tim & Jan); each event was thoughtfully paired with a Pisgah beer and followed by a brewery tour. Jam In The Trees also partnered with Asheville Brews Cruise to offer a complimentary shuttle service between the brewery and downtown Asheville, nearby hotels, and select campgrounds.
About Wild Forests and Fauna:
Laurel York, a lifelong resident of Asheville and President of Jam In The Trees, LLC, helped bring theidea for the event to fruition during a visit with friends from Asheville and Canada who dubbed Pisgah Brewing as a “perfect location” and felt it would attract people from all over with the right musical lineup. That started the ball rolling toward creating an event that would be a celebration of authentic Roots Music, community, and philanthropy (a portion of the proceeds will go to a local not-for-profit, Wild Forests & Fauna (WildFF), in what York proclaims as one of the area’s “finest outdoor music venues”.
“Jam In The Trees is shining a bright light bringing our community together in support of the Big Tree Project which focuses on the biggest, baddest trees in Western NC and beyond, that generate themost benefits to surrounding ecosystems and biodiversity,” says Benjamin Colvin, Executive Director WildFF, “We all want people to go outside, get connected, get lost a little, and ACT to protect our forests for future generations!”
Jam In The Trees ’17 was sponsored by Prestige Subaru and Mosaic Lifestyle Realty.
