In July 1776 General Rutherford was informed of Indian attacks on the frontier of NC and that Col Charles McDowell had taken refuge in a fort with his Militia and 120 women and children. The Indians and Tories surronding the fort did not stay long but, later ambushed Capt. Rollin White’s rear guard company as McDowell fled to Catheys fort and later to Quaker Meadows.

Come out an witness this again all Native American reenactors and Colonial Militia come out and join us to make this year even bigger and better August 19, 2017. If you are not a reenactor come out to the fort and witness history happening again.

Camping will be available at the fort Friday – Monday of the event.
