Free Public Library Centennial Celebration
67 Haywood St
Asheville
North Carolina 28801
Come join us to celebrate our 100 years of being a free public library in Asheville!
We’ll have hands-on activities for kids, a library themed relay race in our auditorium, library tours of ALL of the floors, historical displays presented by the NC Room, Hop Ice Cream Cafe specialty flavors for the occasion, Sweet Cheesus food truck, music, and much more!
In the weeks leading up we’ll be hiding golden tickets within library books on the adult floor and on the children’s floor. These books will be wrapped and on display. If you check out the book with the golden ticket, you are entered into our Super Bookstore Sweep! 6 adults and 6 children will run around the Friends used bookstore and collect as many books as can fit into our special tote bags in a certain amount of time. (Children will go first, adults will be second.) This will take place on July 26, our celebration day! Golden ticket winners will receive more information at the front desk.
Throughout the month of July some breweries around town will be presenting a specialty brew they made for the library’s celebration! You’ll get to see which brewers are bibliophiles and taste a creation inspired by literature. Dates & breweries TBA in upcoming weeks.
