BIG FISH - Film Screening with Literacy Council of Buncombe Co. @ Asheville Pizza & Brewing Co.

Asheville Pizza & Brewing Co. is doing a one-time special screening of Tim Burton’s classic film, “Big Fish”, in their 150 seat dine-in movie theater.

The screening is in honor of award-winning “Big Fish” author Daniel Wallace who will be the keynote speaker at the Literacy Council of Buncombe County’s annual event, Authors for Literacy Dinner & Silent Auction, on October 25th. 2019 is the 12th year they’ve held the event.

The October 25th event with author Daniel Wallace is the 12th Annual Authors for Literacy Dinner & Silent Auction. It begins with a cocktail hour and silent auction, followed by a three-course dinner. The evening will feature presentations by the Literacy Council’s staff and students, Daniel Wallace’s keynote, and a book signing. As for the movie on October 10th…

Tim Burton and screenwriter John August adapted Wallace’s novel to the big screen in 2003 earning numerous award nominations from the Academy Awards, Golden Globes, BAFTAs and many more.

The visually stunning film is beloved by audiences for its funny yet touching story that was brought to life through incredible performances by Ewan McGregor, Albert Finney and Jessica Lange. Don’t miss this rare theatrical screening of the film that epitomizes tall tale storytelling in the deep South.

Tickets are only $3.00. The 7:00 pm show is already sold out. If 7:00 pm tickets are returned, then they will only be for sale online, not our Merrimon location.

The 12:00 pm show tickets will go on sale Wednesday, Oct. 9th only at our 675 Merrimon Ave. location. THE NOON SHOW WILL NOT SELL OUT.

MOVIE SYNOPSIS (Running Time = 2 hours 5 minutes):
When Edward Bloom (Albert Finney) becomes ill, his son, William (Billy Crudup), travels to be with him. William has a strained relationship with Edward because his father has always told exaggerated stories about his life, and William thinks he’s never really told the truth. Even on his deathbed, Edward recounts fantastical anecdotes. When William, who is a journalist, starts to investigate his father’s tales, he begins to understand the man and his penchant for storytelling.

CONTENT GUIDELINE: Rated PG-13 for a fight scene, mild adult language, a very brief glimpse of bare buttocks and a suggestive reference.
