Astronomy Club of Asheville
Aldebaran Lunar Occultation at Tanbark Ridge @ Tanbark Ridge Overlook | Asheville | North Carolina | United States

Come join the Astronomy Club of Asheville as we watch the Moon pass in front of the bright star Aldebaran (one of the bull’s eyes in the constellation Taurus). The event is free and open to the general public.

The club will have telescopes available to observe this Lunar Occultation from the Tanbark Ridge Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Witness our solar system’s motion in action and celebrate this brief “stellar blackout”! To learn more about the occulation, follow this link: http://www.astroasheville.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/5-November-2017-Aldebaran-Lunar-Occutation.pdf

The star gaze is weather-dependent – continue to check the club’s website home page at www.AstroAsheville.org as weather could change the venue or possibly cancel a star gaze. Check-in again after 5:00 p.m. on the afternoon of the observing session for the latest info and update. Directions to Tanbark Ridge can be found here: http://www.astroasheville.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Astronomy_Club_of_Asheville_Observing_Sites.pdf
