Monday, May 16, 2016 at 11:00am, LEAF Schools & Streets invites the community to a culturally rich performance by M.A.K.U. Soundsystem at The Orange Peel. This performance is a fantastic opportunity for school field trips, homeschoolers, all those who want to continue the LEAF weekend, or cannot make to LEAF Festival to experience an electrifying cultural performance. The LEAF Festival in May is set to explore the theme of World Fusion with Cuban Spice. M.A.K.U. Soundsystem is bringing that energy and intention to Asheville for all to experience!

M.A.K.U. Soundsystem is an immigrant band now hailing from New York City, sharing their powerful performance lineage with the Asheville community through music that combines authentic Columbian Folklore and Caribbean grooves. During their dynamic performances, M.A.K.U. Soundsystem explores how multicultural communities can grow together through a positive perspective encompassing love, hardships, and the embracing of different cultures. Their various musical backgrounds allow them to truly exemplify the idea of World Fusion and bring together a diverse room of listeners through their empowering sound.

M.A.K.U. Soundsystem embodies an active quest for celebrating identity through performance. Throughout their journey, they have explored various musical landscapes from indigenous Colombian compositions to progressive rock, bringing cultural awareness to venues and festivals across the United States and throughout the Globe. LEAF Schools & Streets is delighted to share this wonderful opportunity to learn about and experience a taste of true Colombian culture. School groups are encouraged to attend. All
