Great Backyard Bird Count @ The North Carolina Arboretum | Asheville | North Carolina | United States

“Launched in 1998 by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society, the Great Backyard Bird Count was the first online citizen-science project to collect data on wild birds and to display results in near real-time.

Since then, more than 100,000 people of all ages and walks of life have joined the four-day count each February to create an annual snapshot of the distribution and abundance of birds. Join Arboretum educators for guided bird walks and help contribute to knowledge about the Arboretum’s fine feathered friends.

Prior to the public event, join us for an “Early Bird Walk” at 9:00 a.m. with the Elisha Mitchell Audubon Society.  Children 12 and under that participate in the bird walks will receive a free pair of kids binoculars while supplies last.
